“Hummingbird No. 20” is rendered in warm copper oranges, deep earth browns, and muted olive tones, capturing the hummingbird in a moment of upward reach and quiet tension. Copper leaf on watercolor paper treated with patina, allowing oxidation and natural reactions to establish the surface. Layers of oil paint applied with a loose, responsive hand, preserving areas of exposed copper, patina, and visible mark making as active elements within the piece.
