This piece is inspired by the Verditer Flycatcher, a striking bird known for its luminous blue coloration and energetic character. Its vivid plumage stands out against the surrounding environment, creating a moment of bright vitality within the quiet natural setting.
Copper leaf on watercolor paper treated with patina, allowing oxidation and chance reactions to establish the surface. Layers of oil paint applied loosely, preserving areas of exposed copper, patina, and visible sketch marks as active elements within the work.
